Pilates can help you experience more zest and joy in your role as a mother. Moms are tough. We’ve been through it all and seen it all. Our bodies metamorphosed to adapt and make room for our growing babies. And after ten months of insane changes, we brought life into this world as we birthed our babies demonstrating the utter power and sheer strength of the female body. Yes, we are warriors! We are champions!
The never-ending changes (and challenges) of motherhood
But as with all change, there are challenges too. So much shifting, moving, and adjusting often times brings about physical aches and pains. Most of us have experienced one or more of the following: back pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles), pelvic floor dysfunction, and swelling. All of this is often exacerbated by the lack of sleep and rest so common in motherhood. And I don’t know about you, but this pandemic has kicked my butt in terms of the never ending struggle to juggle child caring and rearing with my seemingly endless list of other responsibilities. So what can help?
Pilates can help!
Through my personal experience I can confidently say that Pilates has helped me every step of the way. A regular practice of Pilates has helped me heal my low back pain, strengthen my hips and back, find increased strength and mobility in my shoulders, heal my diastasis recti after birthing, and more recently work on healing pelvic floor issues. Pilates can provide you with powerful tools to help you cope with stress and anxiety. After birthing my son I experienced postpartum depression and anxiety and since then have continued to struggle. Pilates always helps me feel grounded, focused, and energized, even on days when I feel like I am dragging.
Pilates is incredibly flexible and adaptable. Every exercise whether on a mat or on equipment can be adjusted and modified to best suit your body, your needs, and your limitations. At Vero Pilates that is our focus – YOU. We want everyone who trains with us to get the most out of their sessions with us and we know that can only happen when we fully understand where you are in your journey and where you want to go. So no matter how busy you may be, we can help you find a schedule whether in person (outdoors) or live via our online Zoom platform that suits your needs.
