Finding Strength, Connection, and Joy Through Pilates

At Vero Pilates, we believe that a consistent Pilates practice is about so much more than building strength and flexibility. It's about learning to move with greater awareness, finding confidence in your body, and connecting with a community that makes showing up something to look forward to.

Our Member of the Month, Christina McGovern, embodies all of these things! With her inspiring work ethic, playful spirit, and dedication to her practice, Christina has become a wonderful part of our Vero Pilates family.

From Back Pain to a Stronger Core

Like many of our members, Christina's Pilates journey began with a desire to feel better in her body.

Although she had dabbled in Pilates for years, it wasn't until she exhausted her physical therapy visits for back pain that she decided to fully commit to the Method.

"I knew Pilates would help to strengthen my core and hopefully improve my back pain with the added benefit of a full body workout," she shares.

What began as a practical approach to managing discomfort has grown into a regular practice that has made a meaningful difference in her everyday life.

Today, Christina is one of our Unlimited Members, consistently attending classes three times a week. That dedication has paid off!

"My back pain has improved, my core is stronger than it's ever been, and I'm more flexible."

A Friendship That Led to Vero

Christina's connection to Vero Pilates goes back further than her Pilates practice. Her oldest daughter and instructor Sabine's daughter attended preschool together, so when Christina was finally ready to get serious about Pilates, she knew exactly where to go. "When I finally decided to try Pilates, of course, I went to Sabine at Vero Pilates."

What she discovered was not only an effective way to build strength and improve mobility, but also a welcoming community of people who have become an important part of her routine.

"I am so grateful for the Vero community, both for the changes in my strength and body and also for the connections I've made with my classmates."

It's a beautiful reminder that while Pilates may bring us through the door, the relationships we build along the way are often what make the experience so special.

Learning That Strength Isn't Always About Pushing Harder

One of the things Christina's instructors appreciate most is her willingness to work hard while continuing to grow in her understanding of the Method.

Christina arrived at Vero with a strong foundation and a determined attitude. Her progress hasn't simply been about becoming stronger. It's also been about discovering the value of slowing down, paying attention, and exploring the subtleties of movement.

As her instructors explain, "Christina showed up strong. Her progress lies in her improved willingness to slow down and seek out the nuances of the work."

This is one of the most rewarding aspects of Pilates. As our practice deepens, we discover that progress isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about doing less, but with greater precision, control, and awareness.

Christina brings that curiosity to every class, along with a wonderful sense of humor and playfulness that makes her a joy to teach.

Life Beyond the Studio

When Christina isn't practicing Pilates, she stays busy with a variety of interests.

An employment lawyer who conducts third-party workplace investigations, Christina balances her professional life with activities that nourish both body and mind.

She enjoys walking while listening to true crime podcasts, watching British detective series, practicing yoga, gardening, and learning new crafty skills.

Clearly, curiosity and a love of learning extend well beyond her Pilates practice!

Celebrating Christina

What makes Christina such a valued member of our community isn't just her consistency or the progress she's made. It's the attitude she brings to every session.

Her instructors describe her as someone who always arrives with "a strong (and inspiring) work ethic, good attitude and a sense of playfulness in each class."

That combination of dedication, curiosity, and lightheartedness is exactly what makes our small-group Pilates community so special.

Christina, we're so grateful you're part of the Vero Pilates family! Thank you for showing us that meaningful progress comes from consistency, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace the details. Your positive energy, hard work, and playful spirit make our studio a better place.

Congratulations on being our Member of the Month!
